Monday evening was book club. A wonderful neighborhood friend and I decided to start a book club this summer. Monday was our first "official' meeting. I hosted in June, to meet, set up times, and pick books. We decided when you host, the next month, you present the book. I picked Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. We had a good discussion about the book, eating locally, community, growing your own garden and what we could not live without if we had to eat only local foods.
I was surprised and thrilled when I walked into the hostess's house and found a surprise baby shower for me! What a wonderful and thoughtful group of women. Most of the women in book club I have only met once and yet, they had a baby shower for me. Everyone brought a book for the baby, which was fitting in so many ways. Books are my one indulgence, someday I will have a small house with a huge library or at least most of my walls will be covered with floor to ceiling bookshelves.
