Portraits of Aurora

Nathan and I thought we would take advantage of the time we have with Aurora while the boys are staying with my parents. We decided to take pictures of her one evening. She had other plans. I had nursed her for an hour, but she kept falling asleep. We decided to try anyway. We got a few good shots, but mostly she cried.

She is trying so hard to get her fingers in her mouth. We know she sucked them in the womb, but now she has all this room and it is hard to keep them in. Once in a while she will get one finger in her mouth.

But then she moves and pulls it out.

Watching daddy. I know she only sees shapes and light right now, but she does slowly track movements.

Trying to get her fingers again.

Thanks for the help Mama.

This is what happens when I take my finger out of her mouth.

Peaceful......

We will try again soon, and hopefully get some with the boys too.

My sweaty boys with Nonnie

One hot and humid evening, the boys were riding bikes with Nonnie and Papa while I made dinner. When I gave the 5 minute warning, the boys decided to come in and wanted a photo shoot with puppy and Clifford. When I saw how sweaty the boys were, I was not expecting much out of the pictures. I was quite surprised when I loaded the pictures onto the computer, they turned out pretty cute. Way to go Nathan.

Everest and Leaf being silly.

Night, night.
So cute.

Tired hot boy!

They even got Nonnie to join in the silliness.

Loving Nonnie.

Cheeze daddum. (Leaf can say Daddy, but chooses to call Nathan Daddum, not sure why, he also says Evum for Everest).
Love my silly boys!

Baby drawn on my belly

We had our home visit with the midwife on Wednesday. Everything is ready for the birth. One of the fun things she did was feel my belly and draw where the baby is. The boys thought this was GREAT! The baby is VERY low, it has been low, but in the past week it has dropped so it is even lower. Most likely the baby was sucking its fingers. The midwife also had both boys get on the bed on she positioned them like the baby.

This is a side picture of the baby and the placenta.
I walked around the house most of the day with my shirt up so the boys could see the baby. Everest kept asking why the baby was upside down.

All my babies!

Pictures with my boys

We wanted to get pictures of the boys with my belly before the baby was born. Nothing like waiting until the last minute! The birthing room is ready, so we decided to take pictures in there. Everest was a little wound up, so we only got a few good pictures with the 3 of us.

This is me with 12 days to go!

Cheese!

Everest is in that stage where you ask him to smile and he makes all kinds of faces trying to smile. I remember this as a kid, I used to scrunch up my nose when I had to "fake" smile. I don't remember doing it on purpose, I just didn't know how to smile on command. I wonder if he is the same way.

Hugs for the baby.

Hugs for Mama!

Kisses for the baby. Leaf loves to give the baby kisses, but sometimes he gets a little excited and kisses too hard, or he pulls up my shirt, dress, whatever to "see" the baby.

More hugs

My big boy, who is going to look even bigger in a few more days! It amazed me how much Everest "seemed" to grow up in the few hours Leaf was born. When he hugged me goodbye in the morning, he was still my little boy. But when he met his brother (in the ER in Salt Lake City), he seemed so much older.
Leaf wanted a picture like his brother. He loves Everest, hopefully he will adore the baby too. We shall see. He likes it now, because it is not taking any extra attention. He get very jealous if Everest tries to sit on my lap (which he doesn't do often because there really is no room). So what will happen when I am holding a baby that is not him...hmmmmm.
Thanks Nathan for taking pictures of me and my boys. I know it was not easy, but for all the fussy, crying and craziness, the pictures turned out well and our kids look like they had a good time.

Who is that kid?

After 4 years and 2 attempts at cutting his hair shorter, we finally went to a barberoli (that is what Everest calls him, from the book Mop Top). And he cut it SHORT, even though I said, leave it a little longer on top. Everest was nervous about the hair cut and having the clippers used. But he did wonderful. And he really likes it. Well I should say he likes the back. On the way home, he kept saying mama, you have to feel my hair, it's smooth and soft. I have felt his hair at least 20 times, so don't be surprised if you see him and he asks you to feel his hair. He looks VERY different. I hope that we are not in a crowd anytime soon, because I don't know that I would instantly recognize him.

I told you it was short!

We had family (well the boys and I, Nathan is on his way to Tennessee) pictures at Everest's school today. What a difficult time it is trying to find something to match all of us, without buying all new outfits. I found these sweaters at the thrift store. I have a green one with the same type of stitch so that is what we wore.
Leaf is sort of smiling. This is about the best we got all day. He is tired today. I saw 2 more teeth coming in up top. They haven't broke through yet, but they will by the weekend. That makes 6 teeth. He got his 2 bottom teeth at 7 months, then nothing else until his birthday.
