Day 1 Hanging out at Lieber State Rec Area

Friday, July 29, 2011
The kids (or should I say Everest and Aurora) woke up bright and early a little before the sun rose. They were both dressed and playing as the sun started to shine in the campground.

Getting ready to make breakfast. We took a very small camp stove with us, we cooked everything from eggs, to stir fry to chili.

Doing chores: Everest helped wash dishes.
Leaf helped do laundry. We only took 3 changes of clothing and 1 was a swim suit. Laundry was done in a dry bag everyday.
Leaf helping to rinse out the clothing.

While I went into town to grocery shop (I did not have time to do it before we left), Nathan and Bonnie took the kids to the beach. It is a very nice beach, other than the very big hill you have to go down to get to it. No big deal if you are in a car, but on bikes, it makes a difference.
The boys enjoyed running in the water, building in the rocks/sand, and swimming.

After lunch, Nathan and Bonnie drove the truck and the car to our final destination, Brown County State Park. They left the truck there and drove back to Lieber. They were gone about 5 hours. I took the kids to the pool while they were gone. For all those in Indiana. Lieber has a really nice pool.
Everest loves that he is big enough (and Aurora is too) to pick up Aurora. They have a wonderful bond. I love watching them together.

  1. Aurora is old. I bet she's already starting to think of dissertation topics, huh? JK JK JK. I love that you teach the boys that they have to help with the chores even at an early age - that's important. Missing you.
