Purdue's Bug Bowl

Purdue has Spring Fest and a Bug Bowl every year. We missed it last year, but heard from everyone how awesome it is. We went this year and the kids had a great time. They have chocolate covered bug and other foods with bugs in it. We wanted to try some, but never found the tent with them in it. We were too busy checking everything else out.

Everest petting a calf.
Holding a duckling. You could choose a duckling, chick or turkey, he picked the duckling each time.
Leaf got to hold the duckling too.
Leaf wanted to milk a cow...we waited in line, paid a dollar and when push came to shove, Leaf wanted nothing to do with milking a cow. Everest, who had refused to do it, when we got up there, he got brave and decided to try it.
We have been having ALL kinds of trouble with Leaf going to bed. He usually cries/screams, plays, talks to us or himself for 2-3 hours after we put him to bed. We have tried skipping nap and it only makes things worse. On the nights we skip naps, he is slap happy and too tired to fall asleep. This night he was mad so he threw every book off the bookshelf into the hallway.
Then fell asleep in Everest's bed.

Best Birthday Gift

We got tickets to the Purdue basketball game on Everest's birthday. He was so excited to go, but he was not feeling well. We decided to have him lay around the house and nap most of the day. We went to the game thinking we would only be there for the first half.....we were wrong. Aunt Teresa is visiting and everyone was decked out in Purdue gear.
We were way up high, but Leaf didn't seem to mind. He loves all the action!

At half time, Lisa and Doug (our neighbors who have awesome season tickets), came up to visit us. They asked Everest if he wanted to sit with them for the second half. He is standing (at the bottom left of the picture) using his megaphone he and Nathan made.
You can see him holding his megaphone like the cheerleaders do. The camera man below him, filmed him a couple times, but they never put it on the big screen.
Lisa making sure Leaf becomes a Purdue fan too.

Purdue Basketball

November 3, 2009

We had the opportunity (thanks to our wonderful neighbors who gave us amazing tickets!) to see a Purdue basketball game. Nathan and I were a little hesitant when Doug called and offered us the tickets. - Everest and my dad went to a football game this fall...Everest lasted 10 minutes and then wanted to come home.- We thought it would be fun to go, but the game started at 6:30 (getting dangerously close to meltdown time at our house). We were also concerned that Doug and Lisa gave us 4 tickets (Leaf needs a ticket, even though he is a baby..go figure), and there was a good chance we might only use them for a few minutes before whisking our children away before full meltdown begins.

To our surprise and delight, both kids LOVED the game. In fact, we stayed the entire time! We left after 9pm and had to walk to the car, which Everest did with very little complaining about! We had amazing seats (first row behind the bench). Doug and Lisa were across the court and kept waving to Everest
Everest liked the game, and watching the ball go into the basket, but he was mesmerized by Purdue Pete, the band and cheerleaders. (You can see Pete by the scoreboard) After the game, Pete came over and took Everest's apple and pretended to eat it. He loved that.

Leaf loved the giant tv above us. He was so animated and talking as loud as he could to anyone who would listen. He also loved the band, noise, and all the action.
What a great night. Thanks again Doug and Lisa! We had so much fun, we are getting tickets to another game for Everest's birthday. They play on his birthday...we have to go! This time we are ready with all our Purdue gear and cheer-leading paraphernalia (thanks to Bonnie -for all the Purdue clothing, - daddy and Everest-for making an awesome megaphone! Boiler UP!).
