Valentines

Everest is having his first Valentine's Day celebration at school! We had to make 22 Valentines with his name on them. As you may know, we do not do candy. As an alternative we decided to melt crayons. Everest, Leaf and I peeled the paper off a whole box of crayons, broke them, and Everest arranged them the way he wanted on the baking sheet.

We baked them at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes (I never time things, I am more of a check it and see kind of a person). They turned out awesome. I was surprised at how quickly they cooled and how EASILY they came out of the pan.
I drew hearts on construction paper and wrote Everest's name in highlighter. He had to trace his name and put stickers on the hearts. I had nice Valentine stickers, but he chose trains, and construction. I cut out the hearts and wrote "Have a colorful day." (I was a little nervous some kids might try to eat them, they look a little like colored chocolate).
22 bags ready to go for tomorrows big party. I am volunteering. Ana (Everest's teacher), asked me if I was good at face painting. Before I could answer, she said "of course you are". So I am the official face painter tomorrow. That's what happens when you are a room mom. I love it. It is fun to be with a classroom full of kids again. Especially when it is not my classroom, and I do not have planning or paperwork. I just get to come in once a week, observe and work with the kids one on one. I love this job.Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day weekend.

  1. what a fabulous idea. I love the crayons. I like your thinking outside the box with not doing candy..

If you got an email from me about a google link that took you to canadian pharmacy for viagra, I got hacked. I changed my password, but don't open anything that seems fishy from me. And let me know if you get any other strange emails from me....arg!
